Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Nice piece of history from Montreal's International League team, the Montreal Royals, a franchise that existed in its modern form from 1939 to 1960, and which will be forever known as the Triple A club that groomed Jackie Robinson for future heroics. We have an official International League "Frank Shaughnessy Pres." team-signed ball from the 1958 Royals squad, in wonderful condition with 18 clear, ballpoint pen signatures, featuring the likes of future big-league managers and HOFers Tom Lasorda (inducted 1997) and George "Sparky" Anderson (ind. 2000) along with Sandy Amoros, who would make a huge play in the 1955 World Series while with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Other signatures from Montreal’s AAA boys of summer include Babe Birrer, Jackie Collum, Ray Daviault, Martin Devlin, Solly Drake, Robert Faust, Dan Gatta, Bob Giallombardo, Bill Harris, John Jancse, Bob Lennon, Clyde Parris, Harry Schwegman, Lawrence Stankey, and Dick Teed. The 1958 Royals won the league championship and Tommy Lasorda would be chosen the Most Valuable Pitcher for this season.
