Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Cool story on the provenance of the late Pelle Lindbergh's signed early- to mid-1980s Philadelphia Flyers game-used stick. Our consignor received it from Pelle, right out of the trunk of his car at Philadelphia's practice facility, in exchange for a painting of the Flyers' all-star goalie. Pelle signed in blue ballpoint with his number on a vintage strand of white tape that was placed on the shaft of this black Sher-Wood beauty with "Lindbergh 31" stamped above it. Pelle's original tape jobs remain on the knob and blade, with part of the vintage tape job differing from what we usually see, with more rows of vintage tape on the heel of the blade and added tape on the edges of the paddle. Game wear includes lots of red goalpost paint transfer on the back of the shaft. There is a chip on the top edge of the blade under the tape and another with a crack on the bottom edge above the heel.
