Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

HOFer Gerry Cheevers (ind. 1985) would bolt the Boston Bruins and join the upstart WHA in 1972 only months after winning a Stanley Cup with the Bruins, and for just less than four years was a Cleveland Crusader until rejoining the Bruins once again. Offered is a Cheevers vintage Crusaders pro-style jersey manufactured during the great goalie's stint in Cleveland, a sensational durene jersey similar in every way to ones he wore at that time. Tagged in the collar as a “Rawlings (size) 46”, this pro jersey in now without the original string in the tie neck, puckering is noticeable on the sewn-on team crest, and single-layer tackle twill “Cheevers” lettering is applied directly onto the jersey (no nameplate). His number “30” on the back and sleeves are also single-layer tackle twill. A loop style fight strap is included, and sewn on the inside hem is “981.53.1. Marks are on the sleeves and front but because this isn’t a game-worn jersey, they’re not from Cheevers himself.
