They were supposed to be a modern and innovative new approach to hockey uniforms, the jersey with long Cooperall pants as opposed to the customary uniform, but alas, aside from the Philadelphia Flyers wearing them in 1981-82 and ’82-83, along with the Hartford Whalers in ’82-83, it was an idea that died a quick death. Offered here is an early-‘80s Winnipeg Jets prototype jersey and Cooperall pants, worn only in practice and preseason, but with no sign of ever having a number placed on it. The jersey, in great condition with puckering on the partially-embroidered crest and a few marks showing in the white areas, measures 19” from front v-collar to hem, and 20” across the underarms. The Cooperall pants show scatterings of marks and yellowing to the white stripes, and measure 43” from top to bottom. The Cooperall logo is embroidered on the left leg, the suspenders are still attached, and an unrepaired hole is on the rear and a sewn-up hole is on the back leg. It was idea that never took off, although for the Flyers, Whalers, and even the Jets, it seemed like a good idea at the time, at least for a while.
