Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
All-Star forward Brian Propp's 1993-94 Hartford Whalers game-worn jersey is photo-matched to the numerous black marks on the team crest, left sleeve and front of the jersey that show on three included hockey cards. This photo-matched gamer was recycled for Propp's use from the previous season when NHL teams had Stanley Cup centennial patches sewn on. The outline of the removed patch clearly shows on the three included Propp hockey cards and a Whalers 1992-93 "1st Set" team stamp is screened inside the rear hem. Brian's No. 15 is written in black marker on the CCM flag tag that sits in the back of the neck along with a size 54 flag tag. CCM and NHL logos are embroidered on the right rear tail. There is evidence of a former short nameplate visible on the inside. Joe Day is listed as wearing #15 for Whalers in 1992-93.
More game wear shows in external pilling of the sleeve cuffs, particularly the right sleeve, more black marks on the back and both sleeves, and board burns and unrepaired burn holes on both sleeves.
There is a long loose white thread under the right arm where stitching on the seam has let go along the bottom of the sleeve.
