What a cool 6-pack of Islanders game-used sticks this is, with gamers from HOFers Denis Potvin and Brian Trottier, along with Ken Morrow, Ed Westfall, Brent Sutter, and a Koho possibly used by both Gerry Hart and JP Parise, and with all but Westfall’s featuring original tape on the blades and handles. (Westfall’s has no tape on the blade). Denis Potvin’s Titan is signed near the blade with blue ballpoint pen as “To ?, My very best always, Denis Potvin”, with the stick showing a scattering of marks on the shaft which also has “D. Potvin” stamped on, plus the date further down as “11 Fev. 1986”. Brian Trottier’s Vic gamer has marks from top to bottom and has “BR. Trottier” stamped on the upper shaft. Potvin was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991 and Trottier in 1997. Next is defenceman Ken Morrow’s Sher-Wood gamer, which he signed in clear purple marker near the heel as “All the best, Ken Morrow 6”. To note is the taped knob which measures an amazing 17 ½” in length! Ed Westfall’s Victoriaville has “E. Westfall” stamped on the upper blade, his original tape is on the handle, while the tape-free blade has a good portion worn-out and is tapered into a narrow and somewhat unusual shape. Still cool though, from a fellow who began with the Bruins way back in 1961 and finished his 1226 game career with the Islanders in 1978-79. Brent Sutter’s Vic gamer has tons of marks on it, as one would expect from a hard-nosed Sutter, and along with a stamped-on “B. Sutter” on the upper blade is a handwritten “21” on the knob tape. Finally, a Koho, with “12” handwritten below the knob, which was J.P. Parise’s number, and Parise has signed the lower shaft with blue ballpoint pen as “To Chris, Best of luck, JP Parise”. But it’s not finished here, as the stamped-on “Parise” on the upper shaft has been crossed out and a handwritten “Hart 2” has been added. And as a capper, Hart has also signed in blue ballpoint pen as “To Chris, very best wishes, Gerry Hart”. Great evidence that this stick was once owned and possibly used by Parise, but taken over by Hart, who must have liked it!
