Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Ray Bourque kept the tradition of elite defencemen in Boston alive and well, following in the footsteps of Orr and Park, and forging a supremely stellar career that began with rookie of the year honours in 1980, and five Norris Trophy awards sprinkled throughout, including four during the late-1980s and into ’90-’91, which spans the years Bourque would use this Sher-Wood offered here. With original black tape on the blade and white on the knob, this gamer shows marks on the blade, knob, and along the shaft, although because of the black colouring of the shaft, aren’t clear and distinctive. “Bourque R. 77” is stamped on the upper area of the shaft, while closer to the blade are numerous stamps including the date, which, although it’s difficult to ascertain because of the fibreglass on top, could read as “26 Dec. 1989”. A cool stick from a fellow who would be inducted into the HOF in 2004.
