Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Splendid blue mesh Springfield Indians jersey by Champion has a company tag in the neck indicating size 48 and was worn by the team from mid-January through to the end of the Calder Cup Finals in 1975. Everything is heat-pressed here, including the Indian head logo, the waist and sleeve striping and the number "17" on the back and sleeves. This gamer has had the sleeves shortened and shows lots of game wear, including a large unrepaired hole on the collar, two team repairs on the left sleeve, another on the right sleeve and on the front and two more on the back, and a tear has occurred on the back hem. Marks and board burns are scattered about as well. The Springfield Indians changed their name to the Kings in 1968 when the franchise became part of the L.A. Kings fold, and even changed the colors to purple and gold like their parent team. But in ’74-75, Eddie Shore once again took full control, changed the name back to the Indians, went back to the original blue, white, and red uniforms for the season, and captured the club’s fifth Calder Cup. Truly an awesome game-worn jersey from a tremendously important chapter in Springfield hockey.
