Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
There's something special about a hockey team that played its home games a stone's throw away from the Atlantic Ocean. This scarce Atlantic City Sea Gulls jersey was worn by Claude Lapierre, who had 22 points in 30 games in 1947-48, his only season with Atlantic City which marked the Sea Gulls' return to the Eastern Amateur Hockey League after a five-year hiatus. Sea Gulls game-worn jersey with muted maroon, white and light blue colors has its original Gerry Cosby and size 48 tags inside the left side seam at the hip and features a thick seagull crest with intricate, elaborate and detailed cable stitching sewn on the front. "Atlantic City" is sewn on above that in individual maroon felt letters. Jersey shows plenty of use with four team repairs and some small unrepaired holes. It exhibits some staining and tattered stitching at the hem, and the sewn-on "5" on the back has areas of pinkish bleeding around the edges of the white from the red of the double felt. Included is a January 10, 1948 program for the Sea Gulls' game against the New York Rovers with Lapierre in the team photo on the back page.
