Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Fascinating autograph and photo collection totaling more than 200 pieces from sure-fire future HOFer Martin Brodeur and his dad Denis, beginning with a framed 18 1/2” x 22” of a waving Martin, taken by his dad Denis, and signed in clear black by Martin. (This picture was dedicated to someone but has been whited out). Martin has also signed in black on a “Classique Martin Brodeur 2000” golf tournament flag measuring 14” x 19". Photos dedicated to Martin’s dad Denis, a famed photographer who passed away on Sept. 26, 2013, include a signed Brian Gionta pic “To Dennis “The Legend”, plus pics reading “A Denis, Yvan Cournoyer”, “Pour mon chum, Denis, Guy Lafleur”, and “A Denis, Sincerement de Jean Beliveau”. There are also two pictures mounted on board (with laminated signatures) and include a 10 1/2” x 13 1/2” shot of Hank Aaron and Denis Brodeur, signed by Aaron “Best Wishes to Denis, Hank Aaron”, while the other, an 8” x 10” showing Maurice Richard, has been signed by the likes of Red Storey, Bill and Max Bentley, Maurice Richard, plus a pale Cyclone Taylor sig and many more, and we would like to reiterate that these two pieces have been laminated over. Other laminated pictures (unsigned and mounted on board) include Denis outside Luzhniki Palace of Sports in 1972, 2 different of goalkeepers Denis and Martin, a sheet of Score rookie cards, Denis with Beliveau and the Stanley Cup in 1965, Denis with the 1948-49 Victoriaville Tigres (with Beliveau), Denis as an NHL Oldtimer, and Denis in goal at the 1956 Cortina Olympics. There are also 20 colored 8” x 10” pictures of Martin in his old neighborhood with family, friends, and the Stanley Cup, plus reams of papers with Martin and Stanley Cup shots at home and the cottage. Along with these are four 11” x 14” pictures including Martin a young boy in goal at home and three others. Rounding things out are approximately 30 strips of negatives showing various family and friends with the Stanley Cup at the Brodeur family home, and we’re guessing these were taken by dad Denis as well.
