Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Swiss-born backstopper Martin Gerber used this “Sher-Wood” blocker and catching glove in just his second season in the bigs, the 2003-04 campaign with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim when he played in 32 games and recorded a very fine 2.26 GAA. “Gerber” has been printed on each glove, game-marks are scattered about but not in great numbers, the palm of the blocker is hole-free and the webbing in the catcher’s glove is intact. It’s all there ready go for when you feel the need to get out and stop pucks wearing gloves a Stanley Cup winner wore (when he was with Carolina in 2006). Gerber’s name came up in a big way during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino when he stopped 49 shots to shutout the powerful Canadians in a Swiss 2-0 win, in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history.
