Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Prior to Wayne Gretzky, and even before Marcel Dionne, goalie Rogatien Vachon was the face of the Los Angeles Kings. The pride of Palmarolle, Quebec won the Stanley Cup three times in five seasons with the Montreal Canadiens before he was dealt to the Kings early in the 1971-72 season. Rogie was named the Kings' MVP four times from 1973 to 1977 and his number 30 was the first Kings jersey raised to the rafters at the Fabulous Forum. Vachon's 1976-77 Kings game-worn jersey is a purple mesh treat with Goodman & Sons size 48 tagging sewn inside the front tail. And here's something really worth noting, Rogie's surname is spelled out in the original individual letters sewn directly onto the jersey! Game wear on this beauty shows best in the stretchy knit gold panels on the tails and sleeves which display faint stick and puck marks. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
