Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
For the first time, the World Championships were held in North America, with the 1962 event staged in Colorado Springs and Denver. Sweden would collect gold when the dust settled, and when the European teams in the tourney tallied their results, the European Championship medal table saw Sweden with gold, Finland silver, and Norway bronze. Offered is Swedish defenseman Bertil Karlsson’s World and European Participation medal from these Colorado games, measuring two inches in diameter and featuring the inscription “1962 World and European Ice Hockey Championships” on one side and “The Broadmoor (hotel), Colorado Springs, Colorado” and sticks and puck on the reverse. Condition-wise shows it to be excellent with only slight marks and some age darkening to mention.
