Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
From the very first hockey card set comes this rather attractive example depicting George “Skinner” Poulin, a hero for the Montreal Canadiens in the team’s very first game! The Smith Falls, Ontario-born Poulin scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Canadiens edged Cobalt 7-6 on January 5, 1910. Card #24 displays better than its technical VG grade, with a light vertical back crease in the middle of the card descending from “Hockey Series” to the bottom edge and not easily detectable from the front. Visible corner/edge wear and a small back crease in a lower corner are also to be aware of. A welcome addition to a C56/rookie card/Canadiens collection this Skinner will be.
