Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

A stirring image here is that of Bill Cook, one of hockey's premier scorers and top right wingers of his era, pictured in the Saskatoon uniform he wore before joining the NHL's Rangers where, like in the WCHL, he led the league in both goals and points in two different seasons. This Pop-1 EX 5 Cook example leads the nine other similarly stamped Cook cards on the PSA Population Report, which also reveals that one unredeemed EX-MT 6 and a similar EX 5 are among the 25 total sent to the grading firm over the years. Another splendid pre-war treasure! Although the Paulin’s cards have always been catalogued as a 1923-24 issue, extensive research by hobby veteran and author Bobby Burrell points to a two-year promotion beginning a year later, thus giving a 1924-26 time frame for the cards which feature men who played for teams in the Western Canadian Hockey League.
