Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
From 1968-69 to 1983-84, the Charlie Conacher Award was given annually to the NHL player who made an outstanding contribution to humanitarian or community service programs, and in 1980, it was The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, who was honored following his rookie season. We have the Awards Dinner program from Gretzky’s night held on June 5, 1980, measuring 7” x 9 ¼”, and which not only includes a nice story about Conacher written by Frank J. Selke, the dinner menu, and the order of events for the evening, but is also signed on the cover by 6, including Gretzky, Bob Gainey, Gordie Howe, Darryl Sittler, Harold Ballard, Rob Ramage, and one other. Gretzky, Sittler, Gainey, and Ramage have signed in clear blue ink, while Howe and Ballard have signed in clear black. The program remains in excellent condition with just a bit of edge roughness and a few marks to note.
