Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Two classic wooden sticks offered here in like-new condition, with one signed by 18 members of the 1966-67 Montreal Canadiens, and the other by legendary Jean Beliveau. First up – an unmarked, unflawed 60” beauty with “Dan Murray Spots (not “Sports”) stamped on the shaft, and signed in perfectly clear blue pen by coach Toe Blake along with Jean Beliveau, Bobby Rousseau, Yvan Cournoyer, Gilles Tremblay, Dick Duff, Ralph Backstrom, John Ferguson, J.C. Tremblay, Henri Richard, Jacques Laperriere, Ted Harris, Terry Harper, Claude Larose (2), Gump Worsley, Jean-Guy Talbot, Noel Price, and Charlie Hodge. Handwritten at the top of the shaft is “1967-68 season”, but because Talbot, Price, and Hodge played their last seasons as Habs in the year prior, we place this from the ’66-67 season. Also included is a 60 ¾” stick labelled on the shaft as “Sher-Wood Boys” and on the blade as “Selected Tufgrain Blade, Made in Canada”, with the shaft vintage-signed in clear blue pen by Jean Beliveau. Both of these sticks surprisingly retain the light color of the wood usually associated with brand new sticks, the signatures are clear as a bell, and we don’t hesitate in saying these two twigs have been tremendously looked after and stored nicely over the years. Truly awesome vintage-signed, classic wood sticks from yesteryear.
