So cool is this framed display showcasing future Maroons and Leafs star Gus Marker’s AHA Tulsa Oilers contract for the 1929-30 season, plus a 1934-35 Sweet Caporal/Montreal Forum picture of Marker in his Montreal Maroons uniform, and a personal check dated March 26, 1946 made out and signed by Marker to the Wells Hotel in Tulsa for $83.87. Marker would spend 4 seasons in Tulsa before moving up to the Detroit Red Wings in 1932, followed by stints with the Montreal Maroons, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Brooklyn Americans. His player’s contract for the ’29-30 season in Tulsa measures approximately 8” x 14”, showing Marker would be paid $2500.00 for the season plus an additional $1.00, making it a whopping $2501.00! The paper has some natural aging, and yellowing has occurring in the 4 folds, but overall remains in great condition. The Sweet Caporal picture and personal check are also in great shape with no issues to mention. Marker would be traded from the Detroit Red Wings to the Montreal Maroons for Wally Kilrea before the start of the 1934-35 season and helped his Maroons to a Stanley Cup victory in his first of 3 seasons with the Maroons before being purchased by Toronto.
