What an eye-popper this is! Legendary goalie Jacques Plante's 1971-72 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team he donned the pads for from 1970 to '73. This standard player's contract, measuring 8 1/2" x 17" unfolded, was drawn up on October 8, 1971, signed by Plante, NHL prez Clarence Campbell, Leafs GM Jim Gregory, and witnessed by Howard Starkman, who worked for the Leafs at the time and is currently an executive with the Toronto Blue Jays. The multi-year contract called for $10,000 per year for 7 years beginning on January 1, 1972, and in the 8th year, 1979, the number is just $5000. In wonderful condition with normal fold lines, the info has been typed in while Campbell and Starkman have signed in clear blue ballpoint pen and Plante and Gregory in clear black ballpoint pen. An incredible document.
