Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
From longtime New-York-based author, broadcaster, and hockey historian Stan Fischler comes this fascinating collection of 94 hockey-related photos spanning approximately six decades and coming in all shapes and sizes, with the majority measuring 8” x 10” and almost all in black and white. Because Fischler is based in the New York area, many of these photos feature the Rangers in action against other teams, and many in the collection contain a stamp on the back reading as “From the Archives of The Fischler Hockey Service” along with the address and phone number. Other stamps are included as well, from the likes of the legendary Alexandra Studios in Toronto, from Associated Press, Acme and other wire services, along with various handwritten notations used within the industry. A sensational “Quaker Oats/Syl Apps” pic is included here (in excellent condition), as is a minor league photo with a note on it handwritten to Fischler from the rough and tough Larry Zeidel. Simply a fascinating glimpse into Mr. Fischler’s photo archives that show goalies in pre and post-mask action, interviews taking place, and lots and lots of game action, with most photos preserved in nice condition, although a few show creases or some edge wear.
