This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
Tremendously varied and interesting grouping of NHL programs, guides, and pictures ranging from the 1930s to 1960s, so let’s get down to it, beginning with 13 programs including a complete and unmarked MLG program from Feb. 25, 1939 between Boston and Toronto (Toronto won 1-0), with all 72 pages intact and unmarked; an 80-page MLG program from Dec. 6, 1945 for pro wrestling, with 80 pages complete and unmarked; a Feb. 9, 1946 MLG program when the Leafs beat the Wings 4-1, with all 80 pages complete and unmarked; a Jan. 20, 1951 MLG program when the Leafs bested Boston 2-1, with all 84 pages in great shape; a Feb. 7, 1951 MLG program for the Habs-Leafs game that night, with all 84 pages in great shape. (Leafs won 3-1); a 72-page MLG program between the Leafs and Detroit, with 72 complete pages, with the program showing a touch of water damage; a MLG program from April 1969, and although there’s no lineup page, we know the Leafs were swept by Boston in the four games played in April ’69; a 48-page Madison Square Garden program from the 1949-50 season, with no lineup page and a loose cover. We see some tick marks on page 41 to note as well. And finally from MSG, a great program from Nov. 21, 1935 when the New York Americans beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1. This 48-pager is in nice shape with a loose page and some handwriting on the lineup/stats page; From the Montreal Forum is a Feb. 21, 1957 40-pager, when the Habs and Red Wings played to a 3-3 draw. This mag’s in excellent condition. The Nov. 7, 1963 Forum program is in great shape with the 56 pages intact and complete. The Habs and Hawks played to a 2-2 tie that night. The Forum’s March 4, 1967 56-pager was a night that saw the Habs down the Wings 6-2, with this copy in nice shape but with handwritten markings on the cover and middle lineup page; And from the Halifax Forum we have an exhibition game program between the Canadiens and NY Rangers prior to the 1971-72 campaign. This problem has been preserved nicely and shows just a touch of handling. We have a collection of 9 media guides in this lot, including 2 OHA Major Junior year books from 1974-75, both in great shape with some yellowing on the covers; Two Detroit Rings guides are next – a 1960-61 Year Book, and a 1963-64 Press Book, both in great shape but with yellowing on the covers; From the WHA comes 5 media guides including a ’72-73 league guide in nice shape with a small amount of corner creasing and 3 punch holes on the cover; a 1974-75 Toronto Toros guide in nice shape with some scuffing on the cover; a 1975-76 Phoenix Roadrunners “Facts Book”, in nice condition with only some scuffing on the cover to note; and two 1976-77 WHA league guides in great condition. We’re also including a cool collection of Molson’s Montreal Canadiens 8” x 10” team pictures, with 2 from 1953 (some yellowing), 3 from 1954 (also yellowing), 2 from 1957-58 (a hint of yellowing on the white borders), 3 from 1960-61 (a hint of yellowing), and 1 each from 1961-62, 1963-64, and 1964-65 (which has a crease down the middle). Finally, we have 4 Chicago Black Hawks team photos, 2 of the black and white variety from 1945-46 and 1948-49, which shows that some trimming has occurred along with some tape residue. We also have 2 Hawks pics from the Nestor Johnson Skate Co, with some small stains and tape residue. These 4 Hawks pictures measure approximately 9” x 11 ½”.
