Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

Hawks goaltender Mike Karakas smiles for the camera on the cover of this great 32-page Chicago Stadium program featuring a clash between the Hawks and the visiting Montreal Canadiens during the 1944 Stanley Cup Finals. This program is undated, but would have been sold for either game 2 on April 6 when the Habs won 3-1, or game 3, when the Habs edged the Hawks 3-2. Montreal would win this series in 4 games to hoist the coveted Cup. The well-preserved program measures 8 ½” x 11 ½”, and aside from a few marks on the back cover and some small damage to the corner of the back, is complete, intact, and mark-free. Nice program featuring a young Maurice Richard, in his first full season in the bigs.
