You’ll have the Habs ’84-85 campaign down pat after sifting through the stack of close to 300 official NHL game documents featuring handwritten score sheets, penalty records, official game statistics, and official game reports. Totalling approximately 280+ pages covering 71 regular season games and 5 more from the 1985 Division Semi-Finals against Boston, these detailed accounts from off-ice NHL officials begin on Oct. 11th, 1984 when the Canadiens played the Sabres in Buffalo and make their way through the season, with each “Official Report of Match” sheet signed by game referees such as Andy Van Hellemond and Terry Gregson, along with the official scorers. We see how the likes of Guy Lafleur, Larry Robinson, Mats Naslund etc. fared against teams with Marcel Dionne, Mario Lemieux, and The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, who shockingly was held pointless on Nov. 14, 1984 when the Habs won 4-2 in Edmonton. Also included are all 5 games from the Canadiens opening round of the playoffs against Boston with all the official documents plus the Canadiens multi-paged press releases for 3 of the games. The overwhelming majority of this package includes the aforementioned handwritten score sheets, penalty records, official game statistics, and official game reports, but just a few select game reports have printouts or duplicate game sheets provided for the media. All in all, a fascinating way to discover or rediscover the 1984-85 Habs and their opponents.
