Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014

The New York Americans were Manhattan's first NHL team featuring goalie Jake Forbes and HOFers Billy Burch and Shorty Green when they began play in 1925-26, one year before the Rangers debuted on Broadway. Scarce and fascinating original 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" postcard is wonderfully preserved and displays a team photo of the inaugural season Amerks decked out in their patriotic stars and stripes uniforms in an outdoor pose on a sidewalk in front of a building, possibly the old Madison Square Garden. "24/11/25, E Bouchard, Spare" is inscribed on the back though we do not know if it is signed by Edmond Bouchard, who played four seasons for the Amerks.
