Two awards presented to Larry Hillman are featured in his collection of WHA Cleveland Crusaders memorabilia. A Stanley Cup champion with three different NHL teams, Hillman spent the first two of his final three seasons in the WHA with the Crusaders. Hillman's name is engraved on both awards from the 1974-75 campaign, including the Bill Needham Award for Courage and Dedication as well as a plaque from the Crusaders Booster Club. Four WHA game programs and eight Hillman Crusaders postcards are also included in this lot which comes with Larry Hillman's signed LOA. “Bill Needham Award for Courage and Dedication 1974-1975 Larry Hillman” is engraved on the silver-plated cup that stands 8 1/2" tall with “Sheridan” and “Silver Plated” stamped on the bottom.
“Congratulation (sic) Larry Hillman for 20 Years in Professional Hockey, 18 years in the N.H.L. , 6 Stanley Cup Championship Teams, 2 Years in the W.H.L. (sic) with the Cleveland Crusaders, Presented by the Cleveland Crusaders Booster Club” is engraved on the gold-colored plaque on the bottom of the 12” x 8” wood plaque with “1974-1975” in a plaque in the middle surrounded by a gold-colored laurel wreath, and another plaque at the top with crossed hockey sticks and a puck in front of a net.
Three WHA programs from the 1973-74 season and one from the 1974-75 campaign are included.
Crusaders program with Cheevers action photo on cover from Friday Oct. 26, 1973 game against L.A. Sharks has a tear on the bottom portion of the spine of the cover pages;
Two copies of Faceoff WHA program, The Houston Blueliner Vol. II from the 1973-74 season features Crusaders and Aeros lineups, including Gordie, Mark and Marty Howe for Houston;
1974-75 Crusaders game program features Cleveland and Baltimore Blades lineups, photos of Richfield Coliseum construction;
The Hillman Crusaders postcards measure 5 1/4" x 3 1/2".
