Fascinating 1892 hockey champion sterling medal was presented to Dickie Boon when the deceased HOFer was 14 years old. Boon, who was elected to the HOF in 1952 and died in 1961, joined the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association Junior Hockey Club in 1900 and was soon promoted to the senior team, where he played the cover point. Fast and wiry, Boon is credited with being the first player to use the poke-check. "1892 Champion, R.R. Boon, R Hemsley, Montreal, Sterling" in engraved on the back of the medal, which is a shade under 2" in diameter at its widest. Front of medal, which has a green and red ribbon, has an engraved hockey player holding a stick. Comes with a signed LOA from the Boon family.
