Mostly encapsulated rookie cards in this big stack, which we’ll run down in chronological order, with “runner” Rickey leading things off – what a lead-off man he was! Henderson’s 1980 Topps RC received a mark of NM 7 from SGC and is followed by three Cal Ripken rookies; one ’82 Topps #21 is a PSA MINT 9 while the other is close at SGC 88 NM/MT, with SGC slabbing an ’82 Fleer Ripken at NM/MT+ 8.5. Tony Gwynn’s ’83 Donruss RC is a PSA NM-MT 8 while Beckett deemed Tony’s Fleer rookie worthy of MINT 9 status, the same as an ’83 Fleer Wade Boggs RC. Ryne Sandberg from the same set is NM-MT 8 in the eyes of Beckett graders. From ’84 is a trio of Don Mattingly rookies; PSA NM-MT 8 for Donruss, PSA MINT 9 for Topps and GEM Mint 10 for Fleer, with “Gem Grading Inc.” slabbing the latter. From ’85 Topps is a trio the Mark McGwire RC; all NM-MT 8 but by three different grading outfits – PSA, SGC and Beckett. Also from ’85 Topps are rookies of Kirby Puckett (Beckett NM-MT 8) and Roger Clemens (PSA NM-MT 8 (OC)), with a Donruss Clemens a SGC NM/MT 8. In Beckett holders are Barry Bonds cards from ’86 Topps Traded (NM-MT 8) and ’87 Topps Tiffany (MINT 9), while PSA deemed Greg Maddux’s ’87 Donruss Rookies and Fleer Update cards MINT 9. Late-1980s cards to earn GEM MT 10 recognition from PSA are Tom Glavine’s ’88 Fleer RC and Randy Johnson’s ’89 Topps Traded card, with two of Johnson’s Upper Deck rookies garnering MINT 9 grades from PSA and SGC respectively. Completing the stash is a Beckett NM 7 Curt Schilling ’89 Donruss RC, a PSA/DNA slabbed autographed card of Charlie Gehringer (’83 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes) and three raw rookie cards; ’81 Topps Tim Raines (EX), ’85 Topps Kirby Puckett (EX-MT) and ’89 Donruss Schilling (NM). Lots of possibilities here.
