Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Awe-inspiring lithograph of the one and only Muhammed Ali with fist clenched and in boxer's robe, sensationally signed in one corner in artists' lead pencil by the man himself, with the artist, Steven Csorba, signing in the opposite corner. Measuring 18" x 24" and set in a nice 24" x 30" matted metal frame, this artwork, titled "Greatest", is marked as "AP" (Artist Proof) at the bottom, which means the finished work is identical to the numbered copies. Included in the print are facsimile notes between Ali and the artist, saying the nicest things to each other. Just a fabulous rendition, with an amazing signature of Ali as the coup de grace. The words that follow are what's written in facsimile near the bottom of this beautiful lithograph. "To Steve from Muhammed Ali. The artist that creates a beautiful picture makes a greater contribution to happiness of man than the astronomer that discovers a new star. May 12-19-83". And from Csorba - "The artist does not creat merely for his own satisfaction, but wants his work approved by others. In fact, the hope for approval is what makes him want to create in the first place and the creative process is not completed until the work has found an audience. To Muhammed Ali, the Artist.
