Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League) is well known for grooming excellent collegiate players, but a nice of amount of graduates have gone on to NHL careers as well, including big d-man Ryan O’Byrne, who would see action with the Habs, Avs, and Leafs totalling 308 NHL games before heading to the KHL. Offered is O’Byrne’s 2002-03 game-worn BCHL Nanaimo Clippers jersey, tagged in the collar as “Highland Designs”, with an embroidered “Chevrolet” patch on the right breast and a “Sprott-Shaw” patch on the right sleeve which evidence shows has been sewn over another patch. This O’Byrne gamer has marks on the front and on both sleeves, with blue paint transfer on the left sleeve, and red paint transfer and a scattering of small and unrepaired holes on the right sleeve. A golf ball-size stain is noticeable on the back of the jersey, and both the team’s crest and the back number show some puckering. O’Byrne would spend just one season with the Clippers before moving on to Cornell University and then to the pro ranks.
