Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Oilers goaltender Jussi Markkanen donned this goalie-cut gamer during the 2005-06 campaign, a season that would ultimately see Jussi and his Oilers take the Carolina Hurricanes to seven games before falling just short of the big prize. Tagged in the collar as a size 58 Goalie Style, this Markkanen game-worn Set 2 jersey shows a nice series of marks on the front and sleeves, with a touch of red paint transfer on the right sleeve as well. On the inside hem is a “MeiGray” registry patch matching the numbers on the enclosed LOA signed by representatives of the MeiGray Group and the National Hockey League. To note – the hem patch reads for the 2004-05 season, which was the lockout season, and has an adjoining tag for the 2005-06 season in which this gamer was then worn. Also sewn on the inside hem is an Edmonton Oilers “Set 2 2005/2006” patch. Markkanen would be between the pipes in Edmonton for one more season (2006-07) before moving overseas.
