Super pest Sean Avery broke into the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings in 2001-02. An undrafted free agent, Avery totaled 304 penalty minutes with the AHL Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in his first pro season before making his NHL debut the following year with 68 penalty minutes and four points, including two goals, in 36 regular season games with the Red Wings. Made in Canada and size 54 flag tags sit in the back of the neck of Avery’s 2001-02 Red Wings game-worn jersey which displays some 20 team repairs on the sleeves! The Red Wings’ 2001-2002 Authentic Game Jersey 2nd Set team patch is screened inside the rear hem. The front and back collar seams are both repaired/reinforced and the stitching has let go at the bottom of the fight strap’s anchor patch which hangs loose inside the jersey. More game wear shows in marks on the white twill “4” in the #42 sewn on the back and black marks on the sleeves and tails, and red paint transfer inside the front hem.
