Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

Drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1991 NHL Entry draft, slick Russian forward Alex Kovalev would crack the Rangers lineup during the 1992-93 campaign, and it was during his first year in the Big Apple that the man fans would come to call both “The Artist” and “The Enigma”, wore these Rangers red, white, and blue “DR” short-cuffed gloves in a season in which the newcomer would notch a very respectable 20 goals and 18 assists. These game-used Kovy gloves show black marks scattered about on both, while some of the blue and white screened paint on both gloves have worn off slightly. There is a hole in the darkened palm of the right glove, and lesser palm wear on the left glove. On the blue nylon short cuffs of both gloves are screened “Kovalev” in white. Just an excellent pair of rookie game-worn Rangers gloves from a great player, and one who would total 1316 regular season NHL games before moving on.
