Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

Left winger Earl Heiskala would see action in parts of three seasons for the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, and two more seasons in the WHA with the Los Angeles Sharks, but squeezed between these two big league jobs was a two-year stint with the San Diego Gulls of the WHL. Offered is Heiskala's game-worn blue road Durene captain's jersey from the 1971-72 campaign in San Diego. Tagged in the collar as "Crosthwaite" with a faded and unreadable size number, this gamer features individually sewn white-on-orange double twill letters on the front above the double twill "14". The captain's "C" is also the same-colored double twill, as are the numbers on the back and sleeves. Marks are scattered about the front and sleeves, an unrepaired hole is on the left sleeve, nearby is some blue paint transfer, and two team repairs are on the front of this gamer with another on the lower right sleeve. Puckering is on the sewn letters and numbers, and the "C" on the left breast has been torn in two different areas. A washing instructions tag is sewn on the hem, and Heiskala has signed in black marker along the back orange shoulder area. Just a classic Gulls gamer from the '71-'72 season.
