Legendary Habs goalie Ken Dryden’s mid-1970s Montreal Canadiens Sher-Wood game-issued stick is a wonder to behold. Dryden burst onto the NHL scene in the 1971 playoffs when he claimed Conn Smythe honors while leading the Canadiens to a stunning first-round upset of Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito’s Big, Bad Bruins and on to a Stanley Cup win over Bobby Hull’s Black Hawks, all after appearing in just six regular season games! Big Kenny followed that up with a Calder Trophy win the following season and five more Cup wins with the Habs, retiring after Montreal’s fourth straight Cup win in 1979 over the New York Rangers. Classic mid-1970s Sher-Wood team-issued stick has “29 Dryden” stamped on the shaft. The black, white and gold bands on the paddle are in great shape with the gold stripe on the bottom band slightly displaced on one side. An absolutely spectacular piece, game-issued and all set for Dryden’s classic pose.
