Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Classy award from the 1963 IIHF Worlds held in Sweden was presented to a member of the Czechoslovakian team after the squad finished behind the Soviet Union and Sweden. The Soviets began a 7-year reign as world champs, with Czechoslovakia the only team to knock them off (four times) over the next 19 years! Heavy bronze medal (with "Bronze" stamped on the edge) features a raised image of a goaltender on the front, the maker's name and "1963", while the IIHF's name (in French and English) and its logo appear on the opposite side. In can't-hope-for-nicer condition, the medal, which has a diameter of 2 1/4 inch, comes in its original presentation box.
