Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The late, great John Candy, Newmarket, Ontario-born actor and comedian, entered the sporting world in 1991 when he teamed up with Wayne Gretzky and Bruce McNall to become a co-owner of the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts. The celebrity ownership group attracted a lot of attention and the Argos took home the 1991 Grey Cup by beating Calgary 36–21 in the final. This never-folded Argonauts Christmas card would measure 5” by 7” if folded and features a big thick blue sharpie autograph penned by John Candy. One of the stars of SCTV before appearing in numerous movies, Candy died in his sleep of a heart attack at age 43 while filming in Durango, Mexico in 1994.
