Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Wonderfully huge and interesting assortment of 1940s Parade Sportive pictures from the Original Six offered here, with a handful of QSHL Montreal Royals Parade Sportives thrown in. And for good measure, let’s add three rare and gorgeous La Patrie pictures from 1927-28 to complete things. The unique collection of approximately 146 Parade Sportive pictures, many of which are doubles and triples, was produced by Paul Stuart's Parade Sportive company from 1943 to 1947. Issued on semi-glossy paper stock, these pictures have an average size of 5" x 8 1/4" and feature such 1940s stars as Maurice Richard, Toe Blake, Doug Harvey, Turk Broda, Ted Lindsay, Harry Lumley, Phil Watson, Edgar Laprade, Bill Cowley, and so many more. Parade Sportive also produced slightly larger players’ line pictures such as the Richard, Lach and Blake Punch Line, of which we have two, plus the trio of netminder Bill Durnan and two d-men Leo Lamoureux and Emile Bouchard, of which there are three. Three pictures of the 1946-47 Habs team are also included. Maurice Richards’s picture has a company stamp above his image, and Kenny Reardon’s picture has some damage at the bottom, but all in all, this huge lot of Parade Sportive remains in very good condition throughout. The rare 8 1.2” by 11” La Patrie pictures from 1927-28 include legendary HOFers Newsy Lalonde, George Hainsworth, and Habs pioneer Jack Laviolette, with all three being in excellent condition. A wonderful lot indeed.
