Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Save’em, trade’em and frame’em is what a CHEX Cereal advertisement suggested consumers to do with the big colorful cards of Montreal and Toronto players that could be cut from the boxes of Corn Chex, Rice Chex and Wheat Chex fifty years ago, with our consignor deciding to encapsulate’em(!) and now offer’em to the hobby. All 22 here do not have all of the original dotted lines around the white borders and thus have been slabbed “Authentic” by PSA. Featuring beautiful vivid colors, the group displays marvelously well and is led by Hall-of-Famers Beliveau, Blake, Geoffrion, Laperriere, Bower, Duff, Imlach and Stanley, with contributing cast members being Backstrom, Balon, Berenson, Gauthier, Harper, Hicke, Talbot, Gilles and J.C. Tremblay of the Canadiens and Douglas, Harris, Litzenberger, MacMillan and Shack of the Maple Leafs. They are all Pop-1 examples with none higher on the PSA Population Report, with the exception of Laperriere. Awaiting their new appreciative home, these are splendid specimens and conversation pieces.
