Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

"Yum, yum, Canadian Gum" is the thought prompted by this wonderful and delectable batch of cards, with the letters at the bottom able to spell out All-Time Finest! As most hobbyists know, the letters could be cut-off and used to spell the names of hockey teams, in order to be exchanged for a home hockey game, thus reducing the number of intact specimens. A highly-popular, coveted and challenging set to assemble, it boasts the rookie cards of a dozen Hall-of-Famers, along with cards of legends Howie Morenz, Aurele Joliat and King Clancy. This PSA chart-topper has a GPA of 4.74, with RCs of Chuck Gardiner, George Hainsworth and Red Horner all EX-MT 6s with none higher on the PSA Population Report, the same as Taffy Abel, with other second-to-none-at-PSA examples being Pop-2 EX 5 cards of John Ross Roach and Johnny Sheppard RC. Top marks here go to an awesome NM 7 Joliat card, a Pop-6 with one higher, while the Morenz is a Pop-5 EX 5, also with just one similar card graded higher in the history of PSA. Clancy meanwhile checks in at VG-EX 4. Rookie cards of Hall-of-Famers not yet mentioned are those of Lionel Conacher at EX+ 5.5, Busher Jackson and Babe Siebert at EX 5, Ebbie Goodfellow and Nels Stewart at VG-EX+ 4.5 and, at VG-EX 4, Ace Bailey, Dit Clapper, Charlie Conacher, Bun Cook and Red Dutton. Captivating black and white images surrounded by appealing bright vivid red combine to offer a magnificent encapsulated jackpot. Kudos to both our consignor and the potential new owner of this outstanding Canadian Gum extravaganza!
