Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
A unique and very scarce issue put out by O’Keefe’s Beverages to honor the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 1931-32 Stanley Cup championship was a set of 20 coasters, or blotters, measuring 6” by 6” from their furthest points and difficult to locate in any condition. PSA Population Report figures confirm the scarcity, with just 28 total coasters sent to PSA over the years, with our consignor’s tempting set featuring 13 “highest-graded-at-PSA” examples. The coasters feature the artwork of prominent Canadian cartoon artist Lou Skuce. ....Goaltender Lorne Chabot leads things off, with a torn left “point” rendering his coaster PR 1, although the sketches offer plenty of interesting images and information. The only Chabot coaster on the PSA chart, it is thus the highest ever encapsulated by the grading firm.
