Two similar yet different pictures here feature the 1934-35 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Maroons, with the framed one autographed “To Hog – Stew Evans – Feb 10/35.” Stewart “Stew” Evans would be the Montreal defenceman appearing to the right of legendary goalie Alex Connell in the top row, while “Hog” would be Elmer Hogan, a welterweight boxer back in the day and a friend to many athletes of the era. Some damage to the paper stock photo is to mention, below the writing and affecting the image of Dave Trottier which has been blackened-in. Matted and framed to 12” by 13-1/2”, it is joined by a curious CCM photo which names the Maroons as ’34-35 Stanley Cup champions but which is an error job; the “CCM Skates – Champions Everywhere” line is inverted at the bottom, as if the players’ images were printed upside down, with the result being some of their heads in the top row show up in the green border. Different from the other picture is the addition of Toe Blake, (upper left), and Bill Miller, (upper left). VG picture is approximately 8-1/2” by 11” and commemorates the Maroons’ three-game sweep of the Maple Leafs in the Cup finals. Goaltender Connell was outstanding, allowing just four goals in the three games.
