Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
What a potpourri of assorted goodies we have here, including hockey publications from more than a century ago, and onwards and upwards. So without further ado, let's have a look. There's a 1911 Spalding Boys League medal featuring sticks crossed and a stamp which appears to be "RH", which possibly could be for engraver "R.Hilliard." Two editions of Tip Top Weekly from 1900 and 1909, with wonderful hockey action illustrated on the covers. The 1909 edition in particular has been nicely preserved while the 1900 mag has some aging and roughness to the edges of its pages. We have a 1934 "Sport Story Magazine' with a hockey cover and a Lester Patrick feature inside, in nice condition with a small cover tear, and a 1953 "Sport" comic book featuring a Red Dutton illustrated story in great shape although the back cover has a part of it torn off. Joining the pack is what appears to be a well-preserved cover of a 1914 New York Evening Post measuring 10" x 15", with an illustration of two players battling for the puck. And then the lot becomes vast and varied. A 12" x 17" 1937 cover of Moscow News featuring a photo of Dynamo and Red Army in a tense moment in front of thousands of fans. An 11" x 15.5" Herbie Carnegie 1950s Quebec Aces La Patrie poster; a media stats sheet from the AHL 1947 (with a stain on the page); 2 1960s New Jersey Larks programs; a 1966-67 New Jersey-Nashville program from the EHL; a 1931-32 4-page program lineup for the Bronx Tigers and Springfield Indians of the Canadian-American Hockey League; another 4-page lineup program from 1936-37 featuring the Atlantic City Sea Gulls and New York Rovers (contains folds); Also included in this plethora of hockey goodies are other such items as typed stories, hockey magazines, original press photo descriptions, a 1949 envelope and receipt from MSQ, and a couple of hockey books.
