Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Similar to but different than Lord Stanley medals that we've offered in the past, this dandy find features the raised images of the man who donated hockey's most coveted trophy, and his wife. Encircling them are "Lord Stanley of Preston G.C.B. Gov. Gen. of Canada - Lady Stanley of Preston", along with "1888". The coat of arms on the reverse is surrounded by "Presented by His Excellency The Governor General." Beneath the image of Stanley is "Allan Wyon F." Exhibiting moderate tarnish, the 2" in diameter treasure will arrive in its original 122-year old presentation case, the inner lid reading "Manufactured By The Mint - Birmingham Limited." Superb piece for a Lord Stanley shrine.
