What a wonderful three-volume set this is, "The Trail of the Stanley Cup" that encompasses the complete record of Stanley Cup play beginning in 1893 and taking us through to the end of 1967. The three leather-bound volumes, complete with slipcases, averages approximately 900 pages per, and was a life-long "labour of love" on the part of author Charles L. Coleman, according to league prez Clarence Campbell in his presentation sheet included in Volume 3. All books are numbered #285 from a limited edition of 1000 for books 1 and 2, and 1500 for Volume 3. The inside cover of Volume 1 doesn't contain the presentation sheet from the NHL anymore so we don't know to whom these were originally presented. The books remain in excellent condition overall with minor shelf wear. Volume 1 has pristine pages and only slight signs of aging on the top edge of the cover's spine, with only light scuffing on the slipcase and a slight nick on the bottom edge of the slipcover. Volume 2 shows minor wear on parts of the slipcover with the book itself in extraordinary shape. Volume 3 shows some light tiny stains to the outside edge of the pages, with the leather cover in wonderful condition. The slipcase has a small crease noticeable on the bottom. To note on the certification pages found on each book, Volumes 1 and 3 are stamped "285" while Volume 2 has "285" written in ink. All in all, none of the minor flaws take away from the overall beauty of this set.
