Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The 1967-68 season will always be remembered as one of the most significant in NHL history, as the League doubled in size from six to twelve teams and brought the world's best hockey to markets as diverse as Minnesota and California. This complete set of The Hockey News (Volume 23, Issues 1 - 35, October 7, 1967 to September 1968) covers that expansion season in full detail, from training camp and the formation of the new teams, right through to the playoffs and the season ending awards. Also featured are two of the biggest trades of the era, involving Phil Esposito moving from Chicago to Boston and Frank Mahovlich from Toronto to Detroit; plus Jean Beliveau's 400th goal, Bill Masterton's fatal injury, the Montreal Canadiens' 15th Stanley Cup victory, Toe Blake's retirement, and much more. The newspapers are complete, unmarked, and in consistently nice EX+ condition. A wealth of fascinating reading awaits the successful bidder for this lot.
