Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

With his team down 2-0 at raucous Chicago Stadium midway through Game 7 of the 1971 Final, Montreal Canadiens center Jacques Lemaire launched a slap shot from just beyond centre ice that sailed over Blackhawks goalie Tony Esposito's shoulder and into the net, dramatically changing the game's momentum. Montreal would go on to complete the comeback, with veteran Henri Richard scoring late in the 2nd period and early in the 3rd to give the Canadiens the victory, and with it their 17th Stanley Cup. This was the last appearance of the Canadiens' iconic captain Jean Beliveau, and just the beginning for rookie goalie Ken Dryden, who won the Conn Smythe trophy after playing only six games in the regular season. The offered program from that decisive game, played May 18, 1971, has been neatly signed on its front cover in ballpoint pen by 18 members of the Black Hawks team, including Hall of Famers Bobby Hull, Tony Esposito and Stan Mikita. The program itself is a strong EX+, with a small written note at the top of the first page showing the game # and date.
