Here are two vintage scrapbooks from the historic 1944-45 NHL season, which between them offer over 100 pages of newspaper features, articles (all in English) and action photos. Among the many events covered are Maurice "Rocket" Richard eclipsing Joe Malone's scoring record and going on to finish with his historic "50 in 50", Montreal winning the 1944 Stanley Cup, the '44-45 playoffs right up to Toronto's Game 7 triumph in the Finals (Frank McCool's three straight shutouts), the All Stars, Dit Clapper retires after 19 seasons, Elmer Lach wins the Hart Trophy, the 'Kraut Line' back with the Bruins after war service, Rangers coach Frank Boucher returns to the ice after six years (and tallies 14 points in 15 games!), Lester Patrick retires, and more. There are also six folded full page features from Star Weekly magazine (Eddie Shore, Bill Cowley, etc.), plus a fold-out double page sepia toned photo of the 1944 Cup winning Canadiens, from Montreal's Standard magazine. Together, they form a splendid time capsule of this eventful season, now nearly seventy years ago. Both scrapbooks are solidly bound and in pleasing EX to EX+ condition.
