Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

The Boston Bruins' Stanley Cup win in 1970 was their first in 29 years, so it was very big news and cause for celebration in Boston in the days that followed, particularly so given the spectacular way in which Bobby Orr's famous goal clinched the victory. Here are copies of Boston's two daily newspapers of the day covering the event in epic fashion, starting with the complete front and sports sections from the May 11th edition of the Boston Globe, showing Orr's goal in sequence along with stories and more photos; plus a complete May 11th edition of the tabloid styled Boston Record-American (now the Herald), which features extensive front and back section coverage. Also included in this fascinating lot is a "Souvenir Section" insert from the May 12th Record-American, with more highlight photos along with picture profiles of every Bruins player. The papers show some expected handling wear, but are in solid VG/EX condition overall. All in all, a fascinating flashback to a Cup triumph that will never get old for fans of the Bruins, or the incomparable Bobby Orr.
