Here's another item we have never seen surface previously, and may never see again; a complete program from the 1925 Stanley Cup Finals, played in Vancouver and Victoria, BC. It pitted the Western Hockey League (WHL) champion Victoria Cougars against the NHL champion Montreal Canadiens in a best-of-five series, which opened at the 4,200 seat Patrick Arena in Victoria on March 21, 1925, with the Cougars claiming a 5-2 victory. The Final then shifted to the larger Denman Arena in Vancouver for Game 2, which the Cougars also won by a 3-1 score, before moving back to Victoria for Games 3 and 4. The Canadiens took the first of those by a 4-2 margin, before Victoria clinched the series with a 6-1 win in Game 4 on March 30th, becoming the last non-NHL team to capture the Stanley Cup. The clincher would also prove to be the final game in the great career of Montreal's legendary goalie George Vezina, who would pass away from tuberculosis the following spring at the age of 38. The offered program, which was used for all four games and is neatly scored through Game 3 in vintage ink on the back inside cover, is in superb EX condition, particularly given its soft-cover format. Inside are lineups, standings, scoring summaries, and photos of the great stars on each team; including Howie Morenz (who'd score 4 goals in the 4 games), Aurel Joliat and Vezina (misspelled as "Vesina") for Montreal; Frank Fredrickson, Hap Holmes and Frank Foyston for Victoria, and Cougars manager Lester Patrick. Worthy of the finest collection.
