Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
The one and only Bobby Orr used this precious piece of lumber in circa 1971-72 as he was convincing everyone on a nightly basis that he was the game's greatest star. Stamped with "B. Orr" and "4" on the shaft below the white-over-black ribbed knob, with his distinctive few strips of black bulldog tape on the blade, this beauty also features both sets of celluloid stripes on the shaft in Bruins colour and includes the "Victoriaville Hockey Sticks Ltd." stamp on the side of the shaft. This Orr gamer is crack-free and shows various but light game marks, while the white cloth knob tape has darkened with age as the oils from the black bulldog tape seeped through over the years. A fabulous gamer from the legendary Number 4, and comes complete with an LOA. This Orr gamer, from circa 1971-72, was the last year he would use tape on his blade and which also had the "Victoriaville Hockey Sticks Ltd" stamp on the shaft. It also comes from the collection of Dr. Leith Douglas, who was the plastic surgeon to the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1969 to 2005. The LOA that accompanies this classic gamer is signed by the daughter of the late Dr. Douglas.
